Double Chocolate Cake Balls

These are some little cake balls made of chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream and coated with dark chocolate with a white chocolate drizzle.

The chocolate cake I made is a new recipe and was soft, rich and slightly dense but still with a lovely texture. The addition of the coffee extract gives it a lovely deep flavour. I am not great at making cake pops, based on my previous attempts, but I am quite happy about how these turned out. They don't have a smooth chocolate coating like one would expect from a professional cake pop as I would have needed to have melted about three bars of chocolate to do so, and they would have had a very thick layer of coating in comparison to their small size. I do, however, like this slightly rustic look and the informal white chocolate drizzle. They are indulgent and delicious.
