Chocolate Yule 'Log'

This is my take on a chocolate yule log. It is not in the traditional 'fallen log' shape, but is instead like a tree truck. Inside it features thin layers of chocolate whisked sponge stuck with chocolate buttercream. The whole thing is coated in chocolate buttercream and decorated with sugar paste berries and icing sugar.

The cake is light, soft and spongey with a deep chocolate flavour due to the high proportion of cocoa powder. It has reasonably distinct coils inside, although these could have been enhanced by a little more buttercream. Other than that, I think this is a yule log to be proud of!
