Lemon and Basil Pull Apart Loaf

This loaf is something I have seen many times in my internet searching to gain inspiration and is made up of lots of rectangles of dough all placed side by side in a loaf tin. Instead of the usual cheese version, I have sandwiched my slices of dough with a lemon and basil sugar, and have drizzled it in a lemon glaze.

The dough was spot on. It was soft, well risen and had just the right texture. Its butter content gave it a slightly richer flavour. The lemon is tangy and citrussy, being quite strong but not unpalatable in any way. There is a big kick of basil which is absolutely delicious with the lemon. There may be a little too much for some, but I think it is great!
