Poppyseed Pinwheel Biscuits



I have been wanting to make proper pinwheel biscuits for ages, but didn't know how to make them unique, without being chocolate and vanilla. I have come up with my version at last. These are a plain shortbread dough rolled with a vanilla and poppyseed one, giving an interesting contrast.

The biscuits are baked just right so they are short, crisp and just lightly browning. The poppyseeds add an additional crunch and a wonderfully subtle flavour that complements the buttery biscuit. I am very pleased with these. The vast majority and perfectly rolled to form a great shape. They are worth waiting for!
