Fig, Onion and Manchego Straws
These are some puff pastry straws made from flaky pastry filled with a fig, onion and balsamic chutney and manchego cheese.
The pastry was a new technique I was trying out to make a quick flaky pastry, adding butter in all the turns as opposed to just the first. This means that it could easily be made in little time. It produced a lovely light flake, slightly more delicate to a normal puff pastry would. It was definitely a success. The fig and onion chutney is delicious with the balsamic vinegar in it bringing the flavours out strongly. The manchego is subtle and so more could probably have been used, but either way they are absolutely delicious.
