Apple and Blackcurrant Charlotte





This is a traditional british dessert using homegrown apples. It is a charlotte which is an outside made of bread slices brushed with melted butter and filled with a sweetened mixture of apple and blackcurrants, with a hint of lemon zest.

The pudding baked perfectly so the bread is crisp on the outside and conceals the soft filling on the inside. There is just the right amount of sugar in the fruit and the perfect balance of apple to blackcurrant. The lemon flavour elevates it from average to absolutely delicious!
