Steak and Cheese Pie
I had promised some friends I would make my version of one of their favourites from their holiday in New Zealand, a steak and cheese pie. I have made a shortcrust pastry filled with beef in a rich gravy and topped with cheddar cheese.
The pastry baked to be short and crisp. It was the best pastry I have made in my new oven (and there were no soggy bottoms in sight!). I endeavoured to create a rectangular pie and managed to using one end of my loaf tin. I am over the moon it turned out well and didn't collapse. The flavours were delicious with the sauce having a great depth of beefy flavour. It was one of the best dinners I have had in a long time!
