Walnut and Seed Tart

This is my version of a pecan pie. It is a sweet shortcrust pastry case with a sticky filling containing dark brown sugar and golden syrup with chopped walnuts, all topped with pieces of walnut, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds.

This is a deceptively healthy looking tart with a sweet and sticky filling. The pastry is lovely and crisp, baked well, although possibly slightly too brown on the edges. I need to think of a way to prevent this. I baked the filling for perhaps a couple of minutes not long enough as it was slightly too soft still in the centre, but after cooling it was mostly resurrected. The crunch of the nuts and seeds adds a fantastic texture and the walnut flavour is strong. It is delicious.
