Honey and Rosemary Challah Buns

Today was an interesting baking day. I have made some challah buns flavoured with chopped rosemary and brushed with honey.

It seems that bread baking required live yeast as opposed to species on the verge of being out of date. Let's just say, this is batch number two as what I thought was impatience and my dough proving slowly, was actually yeast malfunction! So, once making a second lot of dough and creating myself a makeshift proving oven using a tin of hot water, I have finally baked something that actually rose! As well as this, they have a lovely subtle rosemary flavour and an excellent honey sweetness. The egg yolk makes them rich with a lovely soft crumb. They are delicious and worth the perseverance and frustration!
