Apple, Orange and Poppyseed Loaf
This is an apple loaf cake that is an adaptation to a much loved family recipe. It includes poppyseeds, orange zest and juice, and is sprinkled with demerara sugar.
The cake itself is very moist due to the high fruit content and inclusion of orange juice. The crunch of the poppyseeds is a lovely contrast to the soft apple pieces and the orange flavour marries well. The demerara sugar topping gives a slight crust which cracks when cut through. This is a quick, easy and absolutely delicious cake. A great use of homegrown apples and a family recipe.
