Kedgeree Gala Pies



These pies are an alternative to the miniature pork gala pie, using the components of kedgeree. They feature a turmeric hot water pastry case with a mixture of smoked haddock, onion and potato flavoured with curry powder and parsley, and have a quail's egg centre. 

I think this is one of the most delicious pies I have baked, or ever eaten. The balance of spices is spot on, with the turmeric in the pastry having a delicious subtle back flavour. The smoked haddock and potato filling matched well with the spicing and the egg making for a perfect pie.
