Cherry Turnovers



These are some puff pastry fruit turnovers filled with cherries, drizzled in a cherry icing and sprinkled with pistachios.

The puff pastry is, like usual, light, crisp and flaky, although the bottom struggled to cook due to the liquid of the fruit. Baking them on a preheated tray would have solved this. The icing makes them look fun and tempting, and adds a boost of sweetness to the buttery bake. The pistachios add more colour and a lovely crunch. The cherry did leak out in baking but this just makes for a more homely pie.
