Fig and Fennel Seed Soda Bread
There is only one thing that can be made for St Patrick's Day, soda bread. This is made with buttermilk and bicarbonate of soda and flavoured with crushed fennel seeds and chopped fresh figs. It is dusted with flour.
I've never baked with buttermilk before and it has a lovely flavour. The fruit is sweet and works well with the fennel seed. I perhaps under-baked it by a couple of minutes, but aside from that it is great!
