Cherry Bakewell Cake

This is my mum's birthday cake. It is an almond flavoured madeira cake filled with cherry jam and drizzled with water icing. It is sprinkled with toasted flaked almonds and chopped glacé cherries.

The cake has a great almond flavour with the sweetness of the jam cutting through it wonderfully. It looks great and tastes great too.
