Red Pepper and Pesto Quick Bread

This bread is a simple soda bread made with buttermilk and has an addition of green pesto and chargrilled red peppers.

It has a crisp crust yet is light and soft in texture inside. It has a fairly moist crumb due to the buttermilk, pesto and the slight oil on the peppers but this gives it its charm. The flavour of pesto is just right, with a wonderful balance from the sweetness of the vegetable. This is a moreish and delicious loaf.
