Thyme and Rosemary Dampfnudel with Gruyere Sauce



After the interesting technical challenge from the last series of 'The Great British Bake Off', I decided I would try making a savoury version of the dampfnudel. This is a rosemary and thyme flavoured dumpling served with a gruyere cheese sauce.

I would say this wasn't a bake that went without a hitch. The final (one) dumpling has a lovely soft texture, delicious herby flavour and tastes great with the rich gruyere cheese sauce. But I have to admit that I got slightly keen taking the lid off my pan when steaming them so the other dumpling collapsed and died. I think I learnt my lesson on that one to be patient!
