German Apple Cake




I am making the most of the seasonal, home grown apples by baking a German Apple Cake. This is a traditional, slightly caramel flavoured cake with two layers of apple slices and topped with a cinnamon stresuel top.

I very much enjoyed this bake as I haven’t ever made a streusel before but it proved very simple and an excellent addition to an otherwise plain apple cake. The cake is moist with the contrasting textures making it extra special. It was very much a success.
