Week 5, Pastry Showstopper Filo Pastry




My showstopper filo pastry bake is a baklava strudel. This is homemade filo pastry rolled with a pistachio and walnut centre flavoured with cinnamon and honey.

The filo turned out thin, despite my difficulty in rolling and stretching it, and baked to become crisp. The filling was tasty and, with an added extra of some warmed honey on top, it was a great twist on a Greek favourite.
